The Citroёn Company offers an unusual photo exhibition «90 years of history, 90 years of photos» in the period from November, the 15th till the 28th. The exhibition is organized on the occasion of the brand’s 90 years and will be held on the GUM’s first line. Many famous people’s photos who dealt with Citroen cars will be showed on the panels: politicians, cultural and art workers, great sportsmen.
Citroen in GUM is a history in faces starting with Andre Citroen’s portrait. He is a French engineer, manufacturer and founder of one of the most recognizable cars’ brands. He was an outstanding man, having no fear to experiment. He was the one to create the first European car of mass production Type A and to create the first serial front-wheel drive vehicle Citroёn Traction Avant that turned to be successful from the commercial and technical points of view.
Movies stars like Jean Gabin, Gina Lollobrigida, Marcello Mastroiani, etc., world politicians like Leonid Brejnev, John Kennedy and of course Charles de Gaulle are depicted together with the legendary Citroen DS that was in great demand among the population and conquered even the most sophisticated ones.
This model’s futuristic aerodynamical appearance is created by Flaminio Bertoni who used innovative technologies, such as hydra-pneumatic self-aligned suspension to add to DS new steerability standards, stability on roads and driving convenience. The unique car’s features were recognized even by the contemporaries. In 1999 Citroen DS got the international recognition being named «Car of the century» taking the third place.
