BoscoSPORT Company presented the new Olympic collection for Russian athletes participating in XXI Winter Games in 2010 in Vancouver on December, the10th in the Moscow’s heart on the GUM-Skating-rink on the Red Square.
The snow that has finally fallen in Moscow, took everyone who watched the sporting events on the GUM-Skating-rink in a winter fairy-tale. Leaders of Russian sports, like the manager of the president affairs of the Russian Federation and the President of the Winter Olympic Sports Association, Vladimir Kozhin, honorary president of the Olympic Committee of Russia (OCR), member of the International Olympic Committee Vitaly Smirnov, president of the OCR, member of the Federation Council Leonid Tyagachev, president of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma, Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova, the leaders of the OCR, of the Ministry of Sports in Russia and of winter sports federations were watching the official presentation of the BoscoSPORT Olympic new outfit. The sportsmen were supported by Valery Syutkin, Ingeborga Dapkunayte, Gediminas Taranda, by distinguished guests, legendary athletes and Olympic champions, like 2-time Olympic champion in sport gymnastics Svetlana Khorkina, 4-time Olympic champion in sport gymnastics Alexey Nemov, 3-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Maria Kiseleva, Olympic wrestling champion, Hasan Baroev, silver medalist in freestyle wrestling Tamerlan Tmenov, the bronze medalist Dmitry Nosov, etc.
Guests covered with warm blankets made themselves comfortable on small stands installed right on the ice, so they could watch the show in immediate proximity. Lots of events were worth seeing!
The music was switched on and show’s participants appeared on ice having flags in their hands. Mikhail Kusnirovich took the part of the commentator. He announced the beginning of the Russian national team’s official outfit presentation that will be used in Vancouver. New collection’s models were presented by separate sports. Representatives of various winter sports appeared on ice, changing ice hockey, short track speed skating, skiing, biathlon, curling and, of course, figure skating.
The legendary athlete, 3-time Olympic champion Irina Rodnina’s appearance on ice was a real sensation. Irina and the Olympic champion Maxim Marinin danced the famous «Kalinka», that the whole world knows thanks to our figure skating. Irina Rodnina, dressed in BoscoSport stylish furry-trimmed vest, amazed everyone with the skating range, skillfulness and splendid performance. The curling representatives armed with brushes and 30 kg stones came on ice and demonstrated principles of this relatively new Olympic program form. Members of the Russian short track team amazed spectators with speed-skating run on the rink. The Vice President of Skating Federation Nikolai Gulyaev also was watching the performances of his alumni from the stands.
Bold hockey players appeared on ice in a keen and bold manner. These were the pupils of the CSKA children and junior sport school, dressed in bright BoscoSPORT sweaters going skiing to the famous Russian song «Just real men play hockey.» Skiers and biathlonists in the BoscoSport outfit went on supporting the evening dynamics. Biathlonists made several relay races and then, throwing off their rifles, made an effect of shooting the marks.
"In this is the very form our 600 athletes will represent Russia at the Olympic Games in Vancouver. From 2002, starting with the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, BoscoSPORT equips Russia’s national team. Bosco invents a new design for each Olympic game. This collection has a new ornament in the form of a feather of the Firebird"- commented Mikhail Kusnirovich.
Figure skaters with arbitrary programs appeared in the end. They presented ceremony form, in which Russian athletes will take part in the Olympiad opening ceremony. It is elegant red-and-white bomber jacket with appliqués in the form of feather of the Firebird and dark blue jeans. First on ice appeared Olympic champions Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov, then Maxim Marinin and Tatiana Totmianina, Irina Lobacheva and Alexander Zhulin, Povelas Vanagas and Margarita Drobiazko. With solo performances appeared Alexei Yagudin and Irina Slutskaya.
By the way. the first Olympic gold in Salt Lake City in BoscoSport outfit was won by the figure skaters Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze, Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov, and Alexei Yagudin.
Improvised awards ceremony where all participants went on a pedestal in the rink’s center served the festival’s culmination. This contest had only winners!
Cheburashka, traditional Olympic team’s mascot and special guests joined the athletes to take photos together.
Participants and honored guests shared their impressions with reporters after the official part.
"The new form is of everyone’s liking, of both athletes and coach — said the President of the Russian Olympic committee Leonid Tyagachev. Outfit is yearly improved. It has a better quality in comparison with the other manufacturers’ sports equipment. Colors of this form show our character’s traits and our country’s beauty. We hope that not only athletes, but the Russian team’s fans will wear it in Vancouver.
"For the fifth time BoscoSPORT takes the part of an outfitter, this time representing the Russian Olympic team in Vancouver Games. We began in winter too, with the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. With the Games next in turn our clothing becomes livelier, more vivid and more victorious. Our athletes are accustomed to win in the BoscoSPORT form as well as they get acquainted to the applause in their honor, "- said Mikhail Kusnirovich.
"It is cozy to move in this form, it is nice to play sports, and it is warm! In winter it is very important. Today I spent 10 hours on ice and I haven’t felt cold «- shared the famous figure skater and the producer of the show «Ice Period» Ilya Averbukh.
«It’s a pity that this year I won’t put on this form as a participant in the Olympics. But I’ll support the participants on the stands in Vancouver — sadly said Irina Slutskaya. — I think the support will take me many emotions because I have never traveled to the Olympics as a guest».
