Sublime by BOSCO presents «Unconventional symbols» by Gourji

New models of cufflinks from «Unconventional symbols» collection by the Russian jewelry brand Gourji appeared at Sublime by BOSCO store in GUM. «Unconventional symbols» is an appeal to the Russian history, an allusion to the pins and badges of different historical periods.

Cufflinks «Law» is a stylized replica of «Pillars of the Law», the emblem of the Russian law enforcement authorities since 1801. After the revolution in 1917 this symbol was completely out of use, and today it is used again in the symbolism of the various federal agencies. There is a silver column with horizontal «ЗАКОНЪ» inscription in the center of the shield. The column is crowned by the imperial crown with a cross, and there is Latin dictum «Dura lex, sed lex» at its socle. The dictum is repeated again in the back of the cufflinks and its Russian translation «The law is strict, but it’s the law» is added.

The emblem of the Airborne Forces, developed and adopted for the Soviet troops in 1955 become the prototype for the «Landing force» cufflinks. There is the relief of the parachute in the center, surrounded by two air-planes of the military transport aircraft. They are combined by a wreath of ears with a five-pointed star in the middle. All the elements are made of silver. Since 1955 the emblem has repeatedly changed, but the parachute and two air-planes have always been and remain the most recognizable symbols of the airborne infantry.

«To the doctor» cufflinks almost quote students’ medallion of St. Petersburg Imperial Medico-Surgical Academy. There is the Hippocrates' bowl entwined by two snakes in the center which is the symbol of wisdom and healing. This symbol was introduced by Peter I in order to make a particular distinction for the army medical service. The round diamond is placed over the bowl.

For those who prefer sports subject matter to the state one, Sublime by BOSCO and Gourji recommend new cufflinks collection which is called «Sports». Porcelain and faience bás-relief with figures of athletes created by the Soviet sculptor Elena Yanson-Manizer became the basis of the collection’s design. For example, the cufflinks «Footballer» depict an attacking football player, preparing to hit the ball.

Each model of «Unconventional symbols» and «Sports» cufflinks collection is made at the jewelry factories in Valenza and Pforzheim of 925 hallmark silver with enamel and precious stones and has individual number as only 1964 copies are released.
