view all photos Company BOSCO DI CILIEGI opened in GUM the first Russian Boutique Paul Smith. Moscow had been waiting for this event for a long time, especially because Sir Paul Smith himself was going to fly to the capital especially on this occasion. Cult British designer, in his own words does not like big noisy parties - he likes little noisy parties. And it is a small but fiery party, that BOSCOFAMILY and personally Mikhail Kusnirovich made for the knight of his Royal Highness.

Paul Smith arrived in GUM on the collection car “Pobeda”. Such surprise was made for him by the organizers of the event, who knew about designer’s love for old and antique things. In the boutique Paul Smith the following guests waited impatiently for the designer: Ingeborga Dapkunaite, Oleg Yankovsky, Gennady Hazanov, Valery Sutkin, Leonid Parfenov, Michael and Natalia Barshchevsky, Pavel Astahov with his wife Svetlana, Anton Tabakov, Vice President of Alfa Bank Alexander Gafin with his wife, Stepan, Nadezhda and Artem Mikhalkov, figure skaters Tatiana Navka and Alexander Julin and Ekaterina Andreeva. However, it seemed to many of the persons present, that Mr. Smith has been among them already for a long time. This mistake was caused by the fact, that there were cardboard figures of Paul all around the shop, incredibly similar to the original.

After a drink and chat with the press, Sir Paul Smith and the guests moved from the boutique to the BOSCO BAR. Many of those who came to congratulate the designer on the opening of the first Russian store, tried to prove their love for his creativity by putting on the things from Paul Smith. Valery Sutkin chose total look from Paul Smith, Oleg Yankovsky was in a recognizable striped scarf, and Ingeborga Dapkunaite was in T-shirts with bright tie-print.

It was possible to become a happy owner of Paul Smith accessories by taking part in karaoke-competition, that the guests did with great enthusiasm. Artem and Nadezhda Mikhalkov sang touchingly “Ia shagaiu po Moskve”, having received as a prize a bag and a purse. Sergei Mazayev for the song “Shiroka strona moya rodnaya” got a multicolored hat. And the family of lawyers Barshchevsky performed “Podmoskovnie vechera” so feelingly, that they were given a set of accessories. Also a new duet was created - Ingeborga Dapkunaite and Valery Sutkin, with the old “Chunga Changa” hit.

The main character of the evening personally signed the name things of his brand, making them even more valuable gift. Then there was the turn of Paul Smith to receive gifts. He was solemnly handed the matreshka with his own portrait, as well as traditional fur-cap, in which he went together with Mikhail Kusnirovich and the General Director of GUM Timur Guguberidze to be photographed against the Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed.

The brand Paul Smith gave totally new dimension to the English style. Famous London tailors are not able yet to come to terms with the fact that the Albion is represented all over the world not by the prudish bespoke-suits, created in the legendary workshops Sevil Rowe, but by eccentric creations of Sir Paul Smith. The secret of his success is that he manages to fill his things with the true sense of humor, childish ingenuous mischief, mixed with love of classics and traditions. While working in the world of fashion Paul Smith showed himself as one of the most prominent designers of Great Britain. He does not only foresee the tendencies, he creates them. He offers cult things that become famous in fashionable and in cultural life of the society.
